This is my 100th post! Yay! I'm happy that I'm sticking to this whole blog thing, even if nobody really reads it.
So I was talking to The Amazing Kay Hanley about what's been going on with the bus and the divorce and the fire, and she said "maybe you don't have bad luck. Maybe you absorb all the bad stuff so that everybody else can be safe." If that's the case, I'm happy to do it.
I'm like a superhero...with a bad back...and no wife.

Hey don't be sad, I read your blog, its very interesting and sad too. I'm sorry for your bad luck. You have a lot of it, you've experienced more bad luck in these past 2 weeks then I've had my entire life. Thanks for being our super hero lol and it's cool that your on tour with Miley and i think I saw you in a video on youtube and Miley ran up to you and gave you a hug. I may be mistaken though, but I"m pretty sure its you on it. But anyways I hope your luck gets better amd you have a great tour
ReplyDeleteI read too! Longtime reader, first time commenter.
ReplyDeleteI've had the same theory about my life. htat I've endured countless failures, fallouts and frustrations as I've had more then my share in the various ministries, my teaching career, all dive directly to the ground.
ReplyDeleteBut I've come to realize that my hsitory is not a list of me f'ing everything up, but is God's gift to me.
much love my man!
Aaron
Bad luck and good luck are all relative. You don't always know which you are having until years after the event. I thought I was having bad luck when I had to drop out of grad school to have a baby, but it had turned out to be good luck. I have a wonderful child and my life has changed in other ways that I never could have imagined. I have met so many people and done so many things that never would have happened had my original plans worked out. Studying to be an English teacher is way more fun than getting a master's in criminology would have been.
ReplyDeleteSure, getting into a bus accident can hardly be seen as good luck, but it could have been worse. The bad things in life are necessary. They shape who we become and make our lives fuller. Have you ever heard of a good experience being character building? There is a balance (usually). We go through periods of good luck and bad.
Hey anonymous #1! Yeah, pretty sure that's me being hugged by Miley. Some days she gives me a hug, some days she pounds the keyboard, and some days she just glances quickly as she goes by. One time I put my hand up for a high five and totally got shafted. :) She's unpredictable.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous #2: thanks for reading. Nice to hear from you!
Aaron: I think you're right. Things always look so different when you look back. It's hard to make sense of things when you're in the middle of them.
Melanie: That's so true! Maybe, being on that bus, I avoided getting run over, or who-knows-what else!?!
