The Highway Girl

SMtv and The Samantha Murphy Show have now become The Highway Girl. Many wonderful changes in store for our show!

For the next few weeks, Samantha and I will be shooting segments left and right for our new season, goofing off in front of and behind the camera. We have some very exciting, very big artists coming on board.

Many more details to come. New website on its way. Until then, you can read The Highway Girl blog.

And you can still see our seven awesome episodes from South By Southwest (which includes my "it's so hard to tour with Hannah Montana" rant, my "cannonball problem," and my general willingness to alienate myself in front of my music heroes) at smtvmusic.com. You have to sign up to watch, but it's free and it's just so we have an idea of who's watching.

  1. Wow, congrats on, and good luck with the new project. I was highly entertained by the episodes you guys put together at South by Southwest, and I've been exposed to, and discovered a lot of great artists at smtvmusic.com. So needless to say I'll definitely be tuning in for The Highway Girl.

On a somewhat unrelated note, any idea when you might be releasing a new Mike Schmid album? Obviously you've been busy, but I hope you still find time to write and work on your own material. I thought High Cost of Living was a pretty stellar album, and I look forward to hearing more from you in the future.

    Keep up the good work.

  2. congratulations on the show. it's really good, and has opened my eyes to many great artists I didn't even know about. you and samantha together are really funny, and I can't get enough of your rants. I was laughing so hard when you were like "I'm not touching the ivy". I've been listening to virginia coalition for the past 4 hours thanks to you guys. i hope the show will never end.

  3. I'd just like to add my thanks to the growing pile. The SXSW shows were really wonderful and the featured artists are always amazing. Although I have to admit that you came across as slightly creepy and obsessive (or more than slightly). But in an endearing sort of way.

  4. Phillip: Glad to hear you've been enjoying the show!

Regarding the album, I accidentally answered your question with my next entry. Yay!

Victoria: Yeah, Virginia Coalition is pretty great. And I really, truly didn't want to touch the ivy. You just never know with ivy.

Evie: Hehe, "creepy and obsessive" is exactly what I was going for. :)
