The Plot Sickens

New developments with what my friend Nancy refers to as my "Possibly Poison Patio."

The bees have vanished, and on my way into my studio today I saw four worms crawling on the patio. When I came out of the studio later, they were all dead. Not only dead, but strangely like "melted" into the patio. And the ground was cold.

I am completely confounded.

Was my patio built over an Indian Burial Ground?

  1. Is it possible that it's chemical poisoning? Do you or have you ever washed or treated your patio with any products? It seems like the worms' porous skin had a bad reaction to the surface of the patio, almost like an endothermic acid/base reaction.

  2. I only have one word of advice that isn't needed yet, but may be in the near future:

    DON'T GO INTO THE LIGHT!!

  3. maybe it's your radioactive waste garden that was thoughtfully placed next to the patio.

  4. Do you think it's connected to the strange attraction that bugs apparently have to you and your drinks?

  6. Mike, that is pretty weird. I think if I were you, I would have some testing done to make sure it isn't anything that would be dangerous to humans or pets.

  7. I've been researching this on the internet haha and I found an article and it said this:

No one knows what is causing the bees to perish, but some experts believe that the large-scale use of genetically modified plants in the US could be a factor.

So maybe the bees just feel safe dieing on your patio? hahaha

  9. M, I definitely have some questions for my gardener.

Haley, way to go above and beyond the call of duty for a blogreader with your research. That article is certainly bizarre. I wonder though, if it would be the cell phone thing, considering that it's also affecting worms and wasps and such.

Thanks to all of you for participating in this bizarre speculative mystery with me.

  10. Mike,

Worms always die from the heat of the sun, no matter what tempature your patio is. But I stil find the thing about the bees bizarre. But the thought about your patio being built over a cemetary sounds interresting, yet frightning! But remember through all of the perrils with your patio, love it, and love nature! ;)
