Will There Be Liftoff?

Tomorrow night is my Genghis Cohen gig. But so far, I have no voice. My doctor put me on antibiotics, and I definitely feel like I'm getting better. No voice yet, though.

Will I be able to sing tomorrow? I've got a bunch of people coming, and I don't want to disappoint them. This is stressful.

I guess I'll chug tea all day and night.

  1. Make sure you're taking lots of vitamin C, too. At least a few grams a day. And I do mean grams, not milligrams!

  4. Ya, pretty much chug tea, and water every once in a while. I also heard that the broth in Chicken Noodle Soup will help also. And Vitamin C! Get Better!!

  5. Feel better soon, Mike. Lots of rest if you're able (sleep 'til you can't sleep no more) - that's how I could kick a bug right before a show.

Is that licorice tea you're drinking? Good stuff for the throat...

  6. Mike!!! DRINK HONEY!! I'm not even kidding, the day of my 8th grade play, I lost my voice, and my teacher was like chug as much honey as you can stand, so for the 3 hours leading up to the play i ate honey, and BAM my voice came back, just a suggestion, hope you feel better, sometime if you ever have a show on the east coast, i will make sure to come!!! haha

  9. I know this sounds pretty weird but if you have any, swallow a tablespoon of olive oil. it soothes the throat.
you can also gargle salt water several times a day. and of course the usual Ricola won't hurt either. =] I hope you will feel better soon. and good luck at your show.

  10. Mike,

I hope the tea and some of the above remedies work and you get your voice back so you can perform tomorrow night. Good luck.

  11. Mike, a little miracle worker for voice(...I do voice-overs) is Manuka Honey sold at Whole Foods inside a nice hot cup of organic green tea; cook it like 4 times before you drink it just like the old Samurai used to...
Soak your feet too, healthy feet lead to healthy organs.
(!Not the kind of organs you play:)
The antibiotics they put you on need you to lay in a warm bed my good fellow, so stay home and be cozy. I can't believe how you and Kay both got so very sick. I had pneumonia too, a few days ago, but I live on organic foods only, so supplements really work on me.
Critical Immune Sinus/Respiratory supplement from Whole Foods gave me my voice back and cleared my lungs from mucus.
I also eat a lot garlic. Yuck right? I know.
I would give good advice to Kay too, but I'm certain she hates my type of mommying. I can't help myself when I think I can say something helfull. I do hope you both fell better soon and also have a good show. I got your CD it's really good, but the Christmass song is still the best:)

  14. Hey Mike..

Do you possibly know what part Candice has in Juno?
Is she the girl in the lab with the menstrual migraine?
